Dr Andrea Armstrong is the co-founder and Research Director of Silent Spring Consultants, Senior Researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Researcher/ Course Coordinator at the Maastricht Sustainability Institute. Andrea is Project Leader of the BeBrit Extreme Heat Risk project, and she holds a BSC Environment and Development and a PhD in Geography, both from Durham University, UK She has 20 years of academic research and teaching experience, specializing in the governance and politics of climate change, nature-based solutions, climate risks, urban transitions, circular and sharing economies. Her research has been supported by multi-million projects funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme, ESRC, AHRC and EPSRC and she has published extensively across academic journals, book chapters, policy briefs, and reports. 

Andrea is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society (FRGS), Wolfson Research Institute, and a member of the Association of American Geographers. She is a peer-reviewer for multiple academic journals, the ESRC and the EU BIODIVERSA+ Programme. She is listed as a Senior Climate Experts by the Belgian Climate Centre. Her research has spanned multiple countries, including Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Uganda, India, Bangladesh, the USA, Canada, Brazil, China, and across Europe and the UK 


Wim Pulinx is the co-founder and Managing Director of Silent Spring Consultants, and he has a background spanning two decades in medical and social care in international settings, complemented by legal, commercial, politics and research expertise. He has a proven track record in operations administration, training staff, and intelligence analysis. His strong leadership skills are underscored by a history of successful management roles and consultancy positions, where he has led projects focused on environmental and social governance (ESG), particularly in conflict-prone areas. 

As the Managing Director at Silent Spring Consultants and Researcher, I have overseen consulting projects and conducted in-depth research on climate resilience and adaptation. My ability to analyse data and use it to inform decision-making has been instrumental in measuring the impact of these projects.
